Cat Power has released a new version of ‘King Rides By’ via her official website.
Cat Power has been quiet of late. Since the release of ‘Jukebox’ in 2008 the singer has volunteered for various charities – at one point travelling out to India in order to help organisations working in the country.
Recently heading back into the studio, the singer revealed plans to work on a new album. Over the Christmas break (December 25th, in fact) Cat Power decided to release a fresh version of ‘King Rides By’.
Initially released on her Matador debut ‘What Would The Community Think?’ the new version is a more full, rounded, mature offering.
Available to download via her official website right now, all proceeds from the new rendition of ‘King Rides By’ will be donated to The Festival of Children Foundation and The Ali Forney Center.
As a special bonus, a new video has emerged for ‘King Rides By’. Directed by actor Giovanni Ribisi, the clip features slow-motion footage of Filipino boxer and politician Manny Pacquia in the gym.
