London polymath CASISDEAD has shared new single ‘Venom’, the latest to be taken from his long-gestating debut album ‘Famous Last Words’, out via XL Recordings.
Following the lead single ‘Matte Grey Wrap’, ‘Venom’ is another idiosyncratic offering from the auteur, and as ever nothing is as it seems. A groove-laden number continuing the rapper’s fascination with 80s sophisti-pop tropes, ‘Venom’ is the score to a pulpy psychological thriller.
‘Famous Last Words’ is a dense rap-adjacent record projecting a vision of future dystopia. Inviting a diverse cast of collaborators into his noirish expanse – including Stranger Things composer Kyle Dixon, Italians Do It Better label founder Johnny Jewel, Pet Shop Boys’ Neil Tennant, Connie Constance, Kamio and Desire – CASISDEAD navigates a dark, seething underworld full of gangsters, girls and drug deals. Beyond the machismo, the album tackles themes of loss and psychosis, as a maelstrom threatens to envelope him.

CASISDEAD will play a sold-out headline show on November 2nd at London’s KOKO.
