South London riser Carmody brings the chills on new seasonal offering 'It's Always Christmas' – tune in now.
The songwriter tackles a tale of longing and desire in the big city, with her wandering spirit eclipsed by buildings and insurmountable feelings on all sides.
Out now, 'It's Always Christmas' nails the tender longing that comes with the festive season, a poignant but ultimately inviting sense of melancholy.
Little more than piano and vocals, 'It's Always Christmas' has a slight jazz influence, harking back to those classic ballads of the mid 50s.
She explains: “There are so many beautiful Christmas songs that really capture the essence of it all, the sadness and the beauty in Christmas, and I wanted to attempt to do that – to hark back to classic, traditional songwriting, but sing about a world that today's listener could relate to.”
