Carla J. Easton’s ‘ONE WEEK’ Is An 80s Inspired Synth Jewel

She's back...

Scottish songwriter Carla J. Easton returns to solo duties with shimmering new release ‘ONE WEEK’.

Out now, it’s her first solo nugget since acclaimed full length ‘Weirdo’, and it follows her role in all-star indie pop duo Poster Paints. Carla built her own home studio during the pandemic, before also taking part in a digital writing residency.

Opening up as never before, she had one-to-one sessions with The Weather Station, and took part in songwriting share circles alongside such luminaries as Mary Margaret O’Hara, Beverly-Glenn Copeland and Sharon Van Etten.

Carla J. Easton’s new album ‘SUGAR HONEY’ lands in October, and it all kicks off with ‘ONE WEEK’. Fuelled by 80s leaning synth pop aspects, it’s all Roland synths, dulcet Arps, and the unmistakable sound of a Korg M1.

It’s not just gear heaven, though – Carla remains a pristine vocalist, and a songwriter whose pop adoration is undimmed and unfiltered. A cute return, it acts as a period homage and a neat message to fans.

She comments…

‘One Week’ was recorded live off the floor at MacArts (Galashiels) and engineered by longtime collaborator Stephen Watkins. It’s produced by my drummer Calum Muir and I co-mixed it with Ronan Breslin at La Chunky Studio (Glasgow). What’s been so exciting about creating my latest work is that it’s the first time me and my live band have produced all the tracks.

Tune in now.
