The explosive growth of social media has changed the way musicians interact with fans.
However some would argue that this has removed the glamour, the essential mystique which surrounds the best pop stars.
Carl Barat ruffled more than a few feathers earlier this year, making an appeal for new members of his band via Facebook.
Now the one time Libertine is ready to unveil his discoveries. Carl Barât & The Jackals is the result of a process involving more than 1000 applicants, and includes Billy Tessio (Guitar), Adam Claxton (Bass Guitar) and Jay Bone (Drums).
The band's debut album – produced by Joby J. Ford – is slated for release in September. Ahead of this, Carl Barât & The Jackals are set to play a one off show in London at XOYO on May 15th.
Picking through his back catalogue, Barat is also set to unveil new material at the intimate show.
