Caribou have revealed that they are set to release a completely remixed version of ‘Swim’.
Released earlier this year, ‘Swim’ was an enormous step forwards for Caribou. Led by Dan Snaith, the Canadian producer merged blistering electronica with sun-kissed psychedelia to startling effect.
Receiving huge acclaim from critics, ‘Swim’ has become a massive success. Entering the mainstream without losing its central appeal, tracks such as ‘Odessa’ have become known outside Caribou’s cult fanbase.
Trading remixes with the likes of Four Tet, the Canadian producer’s live show has taken him across the globe. Now Caribou is set to bring some of these re-workings together on a new version of ‘Swim’.
Set for release later this year, the remix version of ‘Swim’ features an extremely varied cast. The full, download-able version contains four separate versions of ‘Odessa’ including contributions from Junior Boys, Nite Jewel and more.
Moving from avant-electronica to disco-house, the remixes emphasise the sheer range of diverse influences running through ‘Swim’. Caribou is given a thorough seeing to by Motor City Drum Ensemble, with the German production team turning ‘Leave House’ into a mind expanding eight minute journey.
The remix album will be available in full as a download, with a trimmed down version made available with a re-issue of ‘Swim’.
Due to be released on October 26th, the remix album follows on from the recently announced live album ‘Caribou Vibration Ensemble’. Containing a raft of guests, the fifteen strong ensemble are caught in action earlier this year.
Collaborators include Kieren Hebden and more, with ‘Caribou Vibration Ensemble’ featuring some startling live renditions.
