Jack White's Third Man imprint is set to re-issue Captain Beefheart's legendary 'Trout Mask Replica'.
The record was released in 1968, a double disc collection of psych rock, free jazz, spoken word, and a whole lot more besides.
A complex but incredibly influential record, advocates included everyone from John Peel to The Simpsons' creator Matt Groening, while the album's sound is evident everywhere from Sonic Youth to The Coral.
Third Man will re-issue 'Trout Mask Replica' on April 30th, with bonus goodies including an actual trout mask, a tote bag, and a full seven inch re-issue of the ultra-rare ‘Pacucho Cadaver’ single.
It's worth pointing out that Jack White has long been an advocate for the good Captain's work - indeed, the re-issue features a eulogy the guitarist wrote on hearing news of Beefheart's death in 2011.
'Trout Mask Replica' will be re-issued through Third Man Records on April 30th.
