Candy Claws Share New Shoegaze Track ‘Distortion Spear’

It's their first new song in 10 years...

Seminal shoegaze group Candy Claws have shared new song ‘Distortion Spear’.

The band made three nigh-on perfect albums before splitting, with two members then forming Sound Of Ceres. Memories of Candy Claws lingered, with final album ‘Ceres & Calypso In The Deep Time’ proving to have an enduring impact.

A 10th anniversary edition is incoming, and it will be released on August 4th. A bonus CD contains a few extras, including – drum roll – the first brand new Candy Claws song in 10 years.

Out now, ‘Distortion Spear’ is a little heavier than the famed album, while still cherishing the band’s shoegaze blend. Leaning more on those my bloody valentine and Swervedriver influences, perhaps, the trio allow the needle to bleed into the red while retaining their grasp of melody.

Candy Claws comment…

“After spending most of the decade on opposite coasts (K and I in New York and Hank in Washington) we reunited at our friend Riley’s wedding in Portland last summer of. It was great and surreal to hang out again, and we had the idea of making a new song for the 10th anniversary of Ceres & Calypso. Back home on our respective coasts, we collaborated long-distance during the following winter. Lyrically, it’s about how a decade can simultaneously feel like a lifetime and no time at all. Nature, memory, anticipation.”

Tune in now.
