Scottish producer Calvin Harris had an unusual welcome at a recent show in Dundee – a flying shoe hit him in the face.
Calvin Harris stormed back this year with a string of hit singles. The Dumfries born producer effortlessly blended trance with pop to craft ‘I’m Not Alone – a number one hit and arguably the sound of the summer.
The hits keep rolling, and despite an online spat with his critics the producer seems to be on good form. However at a recent show in Dundee Calvin Harris got more than he bargained for when a fan threw a shoe at his head.
Emerging onstage at Fat Sams Live the producer thanked the crowd for giving him a warm welcome when he suddenly fell to the ground clutching his head. Beside him lay a shoe, which had apparently caught him full pelt in the face.
Dundee Courier reports one gig goer as saying: It was his first track, and he was giving it all the ‘Hello, Dundee,’ when he got smacked in the face by a shoe. He went down on his knees for maybe 10 seconds, and it looked like he was hurt.”
“But he got up again and told everyone he was all right and started turning it into a joke.”
“The people who were supporting him were a bit surprised and the crowd were booing whoever threw the shoe. He kept making a joke about it afterwards and just carried on regardless.”
Of course, Calvin Harris isn’t the only person to receive the ‘show treatment’ recently. President George W Bush famously had a shoe flung at him, in order to voice the disgust of the Muslim world at his politics.
Has Calvin Harris made offensive remarks towards Islam? Or was this merely a ned with an extra shoe lying around? We demand to know!
