Scottish dance producer Calvin Harris has launched an astonishing tirade at the British Phonographic Institute, accusing them of causing the removal of his videos from YouTube.
Calvin Harris has enjoyed huge success of late. The Scottish dance producer helped soundtrack last year with the phenomenal success of his single ‘Dance Wiv Me’ and Calvin Harris returned this year with another stormer.
Recalling the classic era of rave ‘I’m Not Alone’ stormed the charts, hitting the top spot as the sun began to shine.
All that success hasn’t made Calvin Harris complacent, however, with the producer reacting furiously to the removal of his video ‘Ready For The Weekend’ from YouTube. Taken down after what Harris describes as a “copyright claim” the producer has reacted furiously.
Writing on his Twitter page, Calvin Harris pointed out that while his official video had been removed many fan made bootlegs are still available.
“IT’S MY FUCKING SONG YOU ABSOLUTE BASTARDS,” he wrote. “It’s the fucking BPI. FUCK YOU ‘The BPI’. What have you ever done for anybody you useless shower of cunts.”
He added: “The BPI are the worst organisation to ever walk the earth, and their set-up is shambolic, and their online employees are all massive retards.
“This is unbelievable, and it seems I am completely powerless to do anything. Sony (his parent record label) have done nothing, the BPI have done nothing.”
Jokingly, Calvin Harris added that “I’m going to drive my car into the big window in the BPI’s offices on my way to the studio this morning (July 23). I’m going to hire a 4×4 for the day so I make more of an impact, and hopefully reach the online monkeys at the back of the office.”
YouTube have been at the centre of another row lately. After a fall out with the Performing Rights Society the website removed thousands of videos from its site, after the PRS proposed that artists receive royalties from the plays of their songs.
Calvin Harris is due to release his new single ‘Ready For The Weekend’ on August 10th.
