Scottish indie-dance producer Calvin Harris has retained the top slot in the UK singles chart with his new single ‘I’m Not Alone’.
Calvin Harris seems capable of releasing summer smash hits on a whim. His breakthrough singles ‘Acceptable In The 80s’ and ‘All The Girls’ came in the summer months, as the sun shone and his retro beats oozed out of the radio.
Last year the producer brought Dizzee Rascal along for the ride, producing one of the year’s biggest tracks in ‘Dance Wiv Me’. The pair are set to do battle for this summer’s top anthem with both parties set to release massive tracks.
Calvin Harris currently sits at number one with ‘I’m Not Alone’, which retains the top spot for a second week. The Scottish producer has held off competition from La Roux’s slow burner ‘In For The Kill’ which rises to number two. Although, if you ask us, the Skream remix is a lot better.
The other British entry in the chart comes from The Noisettes, whose ‘Don’t Upset The Rhythm’ remains in the top ten. Returning rap megastar Eminem also stormed the charts, with his celebrity baiting single ‘We Made You’ hitting number eight.
Over on the albums charts, Lady Gaga reigns supreme with her record ‘The Fame’. The only competition to the New Yorker comes from some established names with Kings Of Leon sitting a number two with ‘Only By The Night’.
One other new entry on the album chart is Super Furry Animals. The group’s new album ‘Dark Days / Light Years’ is at number 23, ahead of a hectic summer which will see the band perform at RockNess and Green Man festivals.
