Last month, New York rapper Cakes da Killa released his acclaimed album ‘Black Sheep’, and today, Cakes builds on the era with a super-charged deluxe version, titled ‘Black Sheep +’.
Out via Young Art Records, the expanded edition features five new tracks; ‘Black Sheep’, ‘Chain Gang Pimpin’, ‘Fly Trap’, ‘Not Da One’ and ‘Standing Ovation’. The additional numbers enhance the club utopia as Cakes guides the listener through a “spiritual trip from the clubs of Manhattan to the back blocks of Brooklyn.”
In our review of ‘Black Sheep’, we wrote it’s “the work of an iconoclast, someone who is out there on his own. Continually surging into fresh aesthetic spaces, dappled in vivid colour, ‘Black Sheep’ is a delicious feast of club tropes from one of the best to do it.”
