New York rapper Cakes da Killa has announced his new album ‘Black Sheep’, out March 22nd on Young Art Records.
The album was conceived and shaped with producer Sam Katz, who collaborated closely with Cakes on his 2022 release ‘Svengali’. ‘Black Sheep’ is a paean to the clubs and cloistered spaces of Manhattan and Brooklyn. With features from Dawn Richard, Wuhryn Dumas, and more, ‘Black Sheep’ is an artful synthesis of audacious raps and club-ready production, where communal dance music is both a site of revolution and disruption.
Cakes da Killa is here to remind you: “I know I rap, and I know I’m Queer, but I’m also very talented compared to queer people or straight people!”
Following previous single ‘Cakewalk‘, new offering ‘Mind Reader’ featuring Stout, is a four-to-the-floor projection of hybrid jazz-house, replete with invocations, punchlines and melodic hooks that cascade with precision and subtlety.
