Cadence Weapon has unveiled a new Grimes produced cut – listen to ’88’ now.
Cadence Weapon has always sought to be ahead of the game, making prominent use of electronic producers at a time when hip hop seems largely caught in a form of aesthetic stasis.
Early this morning the rapper pointed fans to a new track which was seemingly produced by Grimes. In a Tweet, Cadence Weapon said: “so today marks my new habit of dropping a song/mix/video every week or so. maybe even more frequently. less bagel talk, more songs in 2012”.

Chatting to fans on Twitter, Cadence Weapon revealed more about the Grimes team up and his future plans.
“to clarify, got the instrumental for the existing @Grimezsz song “eight” from her after hearing it months ago so it isn’t exactly a collab but it wasn’t like i just sampled the song or something. songs i’ll be dropping will vary from mixtape style to more elaborate tracks produced by me to videos to other stuff she also remixed the lead single from my new album (along with a murderer’s row of other remixers) so look out for that”.
Signing off, Cadence Weapon wrote: “thanks for all the kind words! very motivated right now. keep checking this twitter, i have many more songs i’m dying to share”.
