Melbourne trio Cable Ties have shared potent new song ‘Thoughts Back’.
The track deals with the mental health epidemic, and relates his authorities have struggled to put in place adequate care. Lyrically, ‘Thoughts Back’ deals with the personal impact of mental health issues, and how all-encompassing they can be; the playfully minimalist setting adds to this, the chugging post-punk beat carrying a raw, damaged quality.
Out now, ‘Thoughts Back’ finds Cable Ties evolving once more – drummer Shauna Boyle takes lead vocals.
She comments…
“I wrote this song mostly centred around my own experiences with mental illness and how consuming and overwhelming it was, and is, for countless people around the world…”
“It also plays into the themes of the record, such as care-giving and mental workload. So often people give up their own lives to help others and as a result, rarely have their voices, their experiences or their history acknowledged.”
The song appears on Cable Ties’ upcoming album ‘All Here Plans’, slated to land on June 23rd via Merge Records.
Tune in now.
