Buttering Trio Share Ultra-Smooth New Track ‘Close To You’

"It just worked!"

Middle East beats project Buttering Trio return with new single ‘Close To You’.

The Tel Aviv based outfit have spent a decade delivering superb music, melding together aspects of club culture, future soul, and jazz-rooted improvisation. Continually keeping fans – and, no doubt, themselves – on their toes, the group (actually a four-piece since 2018, fact fans) will return later this month with a full studio album.

Buttering Trio’s fourth studio LP to date, ‘Foursome’ is out on July 29th, and it finds the group grappling with fresh ideas, and embarking on their latest iteration.

Ahead of this, we’re able to share the super-smooth sounds of new single ‘Close To You’, a precocious piece of soulful pop that is done and dusted in less than three minutes.

Probing fresh avenues of exploration, ‘Close To You’ also has a neat pop-like directness, rooted in that coy, effervescent melody. KerenDun comments…

“There was a moment in the recording session when the guys were playing this very simple yet incredibly sexy groove, and it blew my mind. They were ready to move on and try something else and I was yelling – ‘No! Wait right there! Just play this shit forever.’ And they went along with me although at first it felt too empty, and I just told them – ‘Yes! Thats what’s so perfect about it.'”

“The vibe and melody of the vocals just squirted out, this whisper-y Janet Jackson-y vibe that makes you dance inwards, deeply, from the gut, forcing out your legendary stank face. And we didn’t need a lot of lyrics or any complicated harmony changes cause it just worked. We’re just looping that shit forever and opening it up super slowly and gently.”

Tune in now.
