French producer Busy P has slammed the remix version of Daft Punk’s ‘Tron: Legacy’ soundtrack.
Released last year, Daft Punk’s score for ‘Tron: Legacy’ was widely hailed as a triumph. Recorded with a one hundred piece orchestra, the resulting album was a fascinating project which sat effortlessly with the film’s outstanding visuals.
Now Disney have arranged a new remix album. ‘Tron: Legacy – Reconfigured’ was announced earlier this month, and seemed to cause a stir with dance fans.
In theory a good thing, the assembled cast for the remix album left a lot to be desired. For every decent candidate (hello Boys Noize) there seemed to be at least two artists who were completely out of place.
With some asserting that the entire project has the air of a missed opportunity, French producer Busy P has waded into the debate. Posting on his official website, the beatsmith summed up his thoughts by saying: “I am 100% sure the Daft boys were not involved”.
Given that Busy P actually managed the duo for a decade, we can pretty much take this statement as fact.

Dear Disney people,
You know i love you (we all do)
But Walt! Come on! How can you take my robots friends so far away from good taste ?
I am 100% sure the Daft boys were not involved in this side (sad) porject
Of course some of it is nice, and you know there are some of my friends on this CD.
But this is not enough!
A masterpiece like TRON soundtrack deserved the best and I am sad to discover the A&R at Disney records is apparently buying most of his electronic music in airports stores…
Luckily I found an exciting UNRELEASED (or even better, REJECTED!) remix from our Belgium cousins GOOSE. This should have been the kind of great re-interpretation
of Daft Punk’s music featured on this compilation. enjoy!
