The composer literally wrote the playbook for 20th century pop, blending Bossa, easy listening, jazz, and more into a sumptuous aural blend. Famed for his work alongside lyricist Hal David, the two scored countless hits, including the fabulous song ‘The Look Of Love’ – perhaps made most famous by Dusty Springfield.
Beloved for his cinematic work, Burt Bacharach scored such iconic films as Alfie, and What’s New Pussycat? amongst many, many others.
Famed for his fastidious work ethic, Burt Bacharach notched up 73 hits on the Billboard top 100, and continued his winning streak into the 21st century.
Indeed, there is still one more major project to come – Burt Bacharach and Elvis Costello will release new box set ‘The Songs of Bacharach & Costello’ on March 3rd.
Our thoughts are with his loved ones.
