Burrows Talks Razorlight Departure

"It was hell" he claims

Former Razorlight drummer Andy Burrows has spoken out about his recent departure from the band, claiming his life was “hell”.

Andy Burrows played with Razorlight for years, recording three albums with the band. Not an original member of the group, the drummer was discovered via an open audition in 2004.

Going on to top the charts and tour the world, life in the band seemed to be blissful until Razorlight were rocked by Burrows’ recent departure on the eve of a massive tour of the United States.

In a new interview with BBC 6Music Andy Burrows talked about his final days in the band. “It was hell. I’m so glad I’m out of it. I hated being in the band. Johnny and I didn’t get on. Now I’ve got my freedom.”

“He never wanted people to know that we both wrote songs and I couldn’t be in control.”

Since his departure Razorlight have replaced Burrows with percussionist David Sullivan-Kaplan who made his live debut on the Letterman Show in the US before an audience of millions.

For Andy Burrows however, there is only relief. “Now at least I’m happy. I’m drumming for We Are Scientists, working on my own material and doing stuff for other bands.”
