Burger Records To Shut Down

The label will close effective immediately...

California label Burger Records will shut down, it has been confirmed.

The label's roster was the subject of numerous abuse claims in the past few weeks, leading to substantial change within the structure of the imprint itself.

Posting a lengthy apology, Burger Records confirmed that President of the label Lee Rickard had resigned, while co-founder Sean Bohrman would step aside.

A name change was mooted, and a new label President named in order to combat a “culture of toxic masculinity”.

Jessa Zapor-Gray was due to take over as President, but in a lengthy letter to Burger subscribers she revealed she would not be able to take up that role.

As a result, Sean Bohrman has confirmed to Pitchfork that Burger Records is over – he is speaking to their digital distributor, and all releases will be removed from streaming services.

All bands on the label own the rights to their recordings and the masters.
