The Polaris Music Prize is essentially Canada's equivalent of the Mercury, a chance to shine a light on excellent albums released over the past 12 months.
This year's shortlist was as competitive as ever, featuring everyone from Viet Cong to Drake, Caribou and BADBADNOTGOOD.
The winner, though, was Buffy Sainte-Marie. The legendary folkie nabbed this year's Polaris Music Prize with her album 'Power In The Blood'.
The songwriter joins previous winners such as Arcade Fire, Feist, Fucked Up, Caribou, Owen Pallett and Godspeed You! Black Emperor.
