One of the true pioneers of rock ‘n’ roll will be remembered later this year when a massive exhibition to the life Buddy Holly is opened in London, it has been announced.
Opening in Proud Galleries, London on January 29th, ‘Buddy Holly: The Making of an American Legend’ will tell the story of one of the most important musicians in modern music. Born in Texas, Holly’s driving rhythmic style, his unusual hiccuping singing style and melancholic lyrics made him stand apart from his rock ‘n’ roll contemporaries.
The opening of the show will mark the 50th anniversary of Holly’s tragic death in an air crash, which also robbed the world of fellow rock ‘n’ roll talents Richie Valens and the Big Bopper.
Buddy Holly’s music was a primary influence on the Beatles and The Rolling Stones – who covered his song ‘Not Fade Away’. A testament to his lasting popularity is the continuing success of the musical based on his tragically short life – ‘Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story’.
‘Buddy Holly: The Making of an American Legend’ runs in the Proud Galleries, London between January 19th and April 26th.
