BT Digital Music Nominations

Award ceremony returns

The nominations for the BT Digital Music Awards have been confirmed, with fans able to vote for their favourites.

Amidst a sea of award ceremonies fans can be forgiven for becoming a little jaded. However the BT Digital Music Awards aims to put you back in control, by allowing the public to choose their favourites.

Founded to support new talent from the UK music scene and beyond, the BT Digital Music Awards move from the mainstream to the underground. Cheryl Cole and Alexandra Burke are set to cross swords, but then so are The xx and deadmau5.

The nominations have been announced, with categories including Best Song, Best Male Artist, Best Female Artist, Best Newcomer and more. Containing some unexpected choices, fans can now make their voices heard.

Celebrating the best in new and established music, this year the BT Digital Music Awards will also reflect a rapidly changing industry. New categories include ‘Best Place to Hear’, ‘Discover and Buy Music’, ‘Best Event’ and ‘Best Music App’.

BT Vision’s Head Of Music Lee Thompson introduced the nominations. “At BT we are very proud to be celebrating and supporting the music industry with the BT Digital Music Awards” he said.

“The breadth of incredible new home grown talent that’s emerged in the past 12 months, selling huge amounts of digital audio and video downloads, makes this year’s BT Digital Music Awards nominations list our best ever.”

The final awards will be given out at a lavish ceremony in London venue The Roundhouse. An historic venue, the ceremony will take place on September 30th before highlights are broadcast on October 2nd.
