Edinburgh’s hotly tipped Broken Records are set to release their debut album ‘Until The Earth Begins To Part’ on April 1st.
Formed in 2006, the Scottish seven piece blended orchestral arrangements with an anthemic rock template. Lazy comparisons have been made with Arcade Fire, but really this group have an utterly unique voice.
Live performances had tongues wagging up and down the country, before a series of independently released singles won the group a staunch fan base. Offers came flooding in from labels both large and small, before Broken Records put pen to paper with 4AD.
Steered by the men who launched the career of The View, Broken Records may well be about to become the next success story in Scottish music. Debut album ‘Until The Earth Begins To Part’ was recorded Monnow Valley studio in Monmouth with producer Ian Caple, and features ten tracks.
In a statement the band say “we’re trying to do something different. People forget that music doesn’t have to be just bass, guitar and drums. It can be just as loud and exciting with glockenspiel and trumpet”.
