Brody Dalle has been sentenced to 60 hours of community service, linked to her ongoing dispute with former partner Josh Homme.
The pair have two children together, and the issue of mutual parenting has reached the courts in the past few months.
As Rolling Stone report, Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Lawrence Riff found Brody Dalle guilty of withholding her five-year-old son from Homme’s court-mandated custodial time in September.
Adjacent to this, a charge involving Dalle’s 10-year-old son was dismissed - the judge found that the older child had decided against visiting Josh Homme out of his own volition. Brody Dalle had pleaded not guilty to both charges during a hearing last month.
In a statement offered through a representative, Brody Dalle defended her actions, commenting:
“As a mother, I will always put my children first and protect them at all costs. Camille and Ryder’s testimony throughout these proceedings have finally given them a voice to be heard, and it weighed heavily in today’s outcome. I truly respect the court’s decision and have already received an overwhelming amount of love and support. I look forward to the opportunity to help those in need.”
“I didn’t withhold our children,” she added. “Our children testified to that. Our children testified to the abuse they have experienced at the hands of their father and the reasons why they refused to go and continue to refuse to go...”
“[Josh Homme] testified to calling me a cunt, a cow, and telling me to, ‘Fuck off forever.’ Does this sound like a person who wants to do the right thing by our children? He has taken no responsibility for his words and actions and the effect that they have had on our children.”
For his part, Josh Homme shared a statement explaining that he is willing to "take responsibility" for his actions, while also asserting that the family unit "is in grave danger..."
He commented: “[I am] willing to take responsibility for things that I do… I’ve suffered a lot of parental alienation in a short period of timeThis family is in grave danger and so fractured and ripped apart. All I want to do is see my kids. I want my mother to see her grandkids. I want my father to see his grandkids.”
Domestic violence restraining orders were filed against Josh Homme on behalf of his two sons in September, citing allegations of physically and verbally abusive behaviour and drinking while driving.
Brody Dalle then testified that her signatures were forged on the paperwork; as a result, Josh Homme accused Dalle’s boyfriend Gunner Foxx of forging the signatures and filing the restraining orders.
