Brittany Howard will release new solo album ‘What Now’ next year.
The American artist recently made a starring appearance in Rolling Stone’s list of music’s greatest guitarists, and she continues her solo path with a new album. Following the acclaim lavished on 2019’s ‘Jaime’, new album ‘What Now’ allows Brittany Howard to continue her journey.
Written and produced by Brittany herself, the record utilises co-produced from revered studio figure Shawn Everett. The two are close friends, with recording taking place at Sound Emporium and the historic RCA Studio B in Nashville – Brittany’s hometown.
Out new, the title song is the first preview of the record. Deeply honest, ‘What Now’ draws a line under one period in her life, learning to look to an often uncertain future.
She says: “It’s never my design to hurt anyone’s feelings, but I needed to say what was on my mind without editing myself. I like how it’s a song that makes you want to dance, but at the same time the lyrics are brutal.”
Available digitally, a seven inch version of the single boasts ‘What Now’ coupled to ‘Meditation’ on the flip, crystal singing bowls performed by Brittany’s friends Ramona Reid of The Frequency Center & Ann Sensing.
Tune in now.
