Britney Spears’ Father Files To End Conservatorship

"Mr Spears has said again and again, all he wants is what is best for his daughter..."

Jamie Spears has filed to end his 13 year conservatorship over Britney Spears life.

The legal situation surrounding Britney Spears has reached boiling point, with the pop star seeking to regain control over her life and finances.

With the #FreeBritney movement surging across social media, it looks as though Britney is close to regaining her independence.

An ongoing lawsuit saw the icon address a California court over a phone line, with father Jamie Spears now filing to end the controversial conservatorship.

In a filing submitted to the Los Angeles Superior Court, Jamie Spears wrote that his daughter "is entitled to have this court now seriously consider whether this conservatorship is no longer required".

"Recent events related to this conservatorship have called into question whether circumstances have changed to such an extent that grounds for establishment of a conservatorship may no longer exist…"

"Ms Spears has told this Court that she wants control of her life back without the safety rails of a conservatorship," it reads, "As Mr Spears has said again and again, all he wants is what is best for his daughter…"

"If Ms Spears wants to terminate the conservatorship and believes that she can handle her own life, Mr Spears believes that she should get that chance."

Britney Spears has yet to comment publicly on the statement.
