Indie mavericks British Sea Power are set to release a new EP before unleashing their latest album.
British Sea Power have been away for too long. Released at the start of 2008, ‘Do You Like Rock Music?’ was perhaps their best album to date, a muscular triumph of free thinking songwriting.
The band’s most successful effort to date, the album was nominated for the Mercury Music Prize. Since then, British Sea Power have toured extensively and completed a soundtrack to an evocative silent film.
However fans have been clamouring for a complete new studio album. Working throughout the summer, British Sea Power have now confirmed details of a new eight track EP ahead of their latest album.
The new EP is named ‘Zeus’ and is a precursor to the new album. Containing eight tracks, the titles are typically allusive. Aside from referencing Greek gods the band have written songs such as ‘Pardon My Friends’ and ‘Kw-h’.
Only one track appears on both the new EP and the forthcoming album, with ‘Cleaning Out The Rooms’ taking pride of place on the two releases.
Set to kickstart a new tour next month, British Sea Power are set to preview material from their new album during the shows. Download the track ‘Zeus’ below – but first, the tracklisting…
