BRIT Awards 2025: Charli xcx Wins Songwriter Of The Year

The 'BRAT' ascendency continues...

Charli xcx has scooped Songwriter Of The Year at the BRIT Awards 2025.

The lavish ceremony takes place this Saturday (March 1st) at the O2 Arena in London; kicking off at 8.15pm, the festivities will be broadcast live on ITV.

As it tradition, a few awards are unveiled prior to the ceremony. Following A. G. Cook’s triumph as Producer Of The Year a matter of hours ago, Charli xcx has just scooped Songwriter Of The Year.

The pair built ‘BRAT’ together, undeniably one of 2024’s defining album releases, and this is the first time Charli xcx has won Songwriter Of The Year.

The award recognises outstanding songwriting talent, and was decided by a select panel of expert judges, with previous recipients including Ed Sheeran, Kid Harpoon, and RAYE, who won in 2024.

Damian Christian, Managing Director and President of Promotions at Atlantic Records (part of Warner Music UK) and Chair of the BRIT Committee for 2025 adds…

“Charli has had an undeniable year, taking her experimental brand of electronic and pop from underground raves to the heart of mainstream culture. Charli’s songwriting is distinctive, bold and relentlessly innovative, and, having been one of the UK’s leading songwriters for a number of years now, has taken her craft to new heights with her global phenomenon Brat. I’m delighted she has been recognised for this much deserved award.”

BRIT Awards 2025 kicks off at 8.15pm on March 1st.
