Brit Awards 2009 Nominations

Coldplay, Duffy lead field

Amongst the big winners at the Brit Award nomination ceremony last night were Coldplay and Duffy, who were neck and neck with four nominations each.

The Brit Awards are upon us! The annual industry shindig that aims to celebrate the great and good in British music and beyond, the Brits provide more talking points and moments of controversy than perhaps any other ceremony.

The nominations for the ceremony were revealed in London last night (January 20th). Both Coldplay and Duffy are up for Best Single and Best British Album, while Chris Martin’s stadium rocking troops have also been nominated for Best British Group and British Live Act.

Elbow could complete a stunning award haul after being nominated for ‘Best British Album’ with ‘The Seldom Seen Kid’ while this year’s Outstanding Contribution Award goes to the Pet Shop Boys.

Possible moments of controversy are outspoken political maverick Brian Eno’s inclusion in the ‘British Producer Of The Year’ category, while Iron Maiden have been nominated for ‘Best British Live Act’.

The Brit Award 2009 ceremony will take place on February 18th at Earl’s Court, London.
