Brijean return to their roots on new album ‘Macro’.
Out on July 12th, it’s the group’s first new LP in two years, and marks another facet of their ongoing evolution. Recorded in their home in Altadena on the outskirts of Los Angeles, it takes Brijean to their roots, while also introducing new ideas.
Brijean Murphy says that “being in this beautiful part of town nestled up against the Angeles National Forest played a big role in how comfortable we felt stretching out and trying to push our musical boundaries. Anytime we brought someone into the world to add their musical touch, it felt like a highlight.”
New single ‘Roller Coaster’ is out now, following lead single ‘Workin’ On it’, and it’s a zesty return – aided by Khruangbin’s Donald “DJ” Johnson Jr. on drums, Melody Ector on piano, and Spencer Hartling on synth sequencing, it’s a heady look at love’s ups and downs.
Need more Brijean in your life? Well, they teamed up with Toro y Moi to cover Tom Tom Club’s ‘Genius Of Love’ for A24 compilation ‘Everyone’s Getting Involved: A Tribute to Talking Heads’.
