Brandon Flowers Tops Mid Week Charts

'Flamingo' set for number one

Brandon Flowers could be set to claim the UK number slot with his album ‘Flamingo’.

The Killers went on hiatus last year, but clearly the concept of rest is completely alien to Brandon Flowers. The frontman instead began work on a new solo album, retreating to his home in Las Vegas.

A practising Mormon, the singer’s lifestyle means that he avoids flamboyant rock star parties. Instead it seems that Brandon Flowers prefers to make music, completing his debut solo album in rapid time.

‘Flamingo’ is a step away from The Killers, although it is obviously the work of Brandon Flowers. The singer seems more at peace, less eager to fill stadiums than his work with the Las Vegas band.

With his new single loitering in the Top Ten, ‘Flamingo’ was always going to be a massive success. Battling Katy Perry, it seems that Brandon Flowers could be set to grab the number one slot.

According to figures from the Official Chart Company the singer is just ahead of Katy Perry, whose ‘Teenage Dream’ album may have to make do with second place.

Brandon Flowers is due to tour the UK this October, and recently added an extra date to the sold out series of concerts. Meanwhile, Manchester newcomers Hurts are likely to earn a Top Five placing.

The mysterious duo were named in the BBC’s ‘Sound Of 2010’ poll, with their debut album ‘Happiness’ scoring warm reviews. Ice cold synth pop, the album could reach the Top Five with impressive first week sales.

Only recently playing their first show, Hurts have leaped fully formed from the studio into the charts.

Meanwhile on the singles chart Alexandra Burke could claim number one with ‘Start Without You’. However the X Factor favourite is also battling competition from Katy Perry, Olly Murs and McFly.
