Brandon Flowers has spoken about the ongoing Killers hiatus, admitting he does not know when it will end.
The Killers struck gold with ‘Day & Age’. An enormous success, it spawned the hit single ‘Human’ which – despite some daft lyrics – has gone on to become a genuine festival anthem, adored by millions.
After a lengthy world tour, cracks in the band began to appear. Stories of rows emerged in the press, with The Killers deciding that after 18 months on the road a break was needed.
Going on hiatus, the Las Vegas band embarked on a series of different projects. Some members contributed to the Mt Desolation project while Brandon Flowers went solo with his number one album ‘Flamingo’.
Speaking to the NME, the singer insisted that he had no idea how long the hiatus would last for. “The guys in The Killers that wanna take a break are kind of vague about how long this break is gonna be,” he said.
Continuing, Brandon Flowers explained that ‘Flamingo’ came from a need to keep creating music. “I cant imagine not going onstage for two years” he said “and so, I delivered ‘Flamingo’.”
However the singer refused to turn his back on The Killers, with Brandon Flowers insisting that his “loyalty” remains with the Las Vegas band.
The frontman is currently preparing to a sold out tour of the UK. Brandon Flowers was forced to extend the tour due to demand, with many dates selling out within minutes of passes going on sale.
Adding a final show at London’s Brixton Academy, the tour will kick off in Glasgow on October 12th. Support will come from Transfer, an up and coming group from The Killers’ home town.
