boygenius have shared new song ‘Not Strong Enough’.
Out now, ‘Not Strong Enough’ is a puzzle wrapped in a contradiction. Easy on the ear – those harmonies are pure 1972 Laurel Canyon – the lyrics pivot between grandiose self-belief and cavernous self-doubt. A song about enduring periods of self-hatred while having a God complex, it surges towards that rollocking, AM radio chorus.
Jackson Bridgers directs the video, which plays out like a home video compilation – it’s a neat view inside the trio’s world.
‘Not Strong Enough’ appears on the debut boygenius album – it’s titled ‘the record’ and lands on March 31st. Catch them live this summer at Gunnersbury Park, London on August 20th, and The Piece Hall in Halifax on August 22nd.
They have also confirmed plans for Scotland’s Connect Festival over the August Bank Holiday weekend. Will more dates follow? Stay tuned, folks.
