Bow Wow Wow Reform, Tour

Malcolm McLaren's creations back on the road

Infamous 80s pop outfit Bow Wow Wow are to reform for a series of nationwide shows.

Malcolm McLaren knew how to hustle. Losing his grip on the Sex Pistols, the svengali began looking around for a new group. Persuading the initial incarnation of The Ants to leave behind Adam Ant, the manager then required a singer.

Finding Annabella Lwin singing in a laundrette, Bow Wow Wow were born. Notching up a couple of hits with a variation on the Burundi beat, Malcolm McLaren exploited the image of a then fourteen years old Lwin to the fury of certain members of the press.

At one point McLaren ordered the recreation of the Manet painting ‘Le déjeuner sur l’herbe’ featuring the singer posing naked (pictured).

Eventually splintering, Bow Wow Wow remain a notorious episode in McLaren’s career and a superb pop band in their own right. Deciding to reform in November 2010 to salute original guitarist Matthew Ashman, it seems that the band now intend to tour across the country.

Confirming a nationwide tour, the band will play the first proper Bow Wow Wow shows since the early 80s. Catch the full list of dates after the jump – until then, enjoy the TOTP clip for ‘Let’s Go Wild In The Country’.
