Born Blonde are giving away The Emperor Machine’s re-working of their single ‘I Just Wanna Be’.
West London. Nothing comes from West London. The artistic geography of the capital is geared towards the East, with the South only just beginning to makes it voice heard.
Yet Born Blonde come from West London. The four piece have a neat line in guitar pop, using the same sort of influences which sluiced through The Stone Roses, Pixies, ‘Screamadelica’ and My Bloody Valentine.
There are cross-currents of the early 90s, for sure, but this still feels fresh – as if it could only have been made in London, in 2012. Recent single ‘I Just Wanna Be’ pushed Born Blonde to further prominence, winning countless new fans in the process.
The Emperor Machine stepped in to remix the track, returning with an expansive, psychedelic re-working. Stream / download the cut below.
