bonsi Lifts Her Sights On Dream-Like ‘Four Faces’

Bristol based artist impresses...

Songwriter and producer bonsi has shared new single ‘Four Faces’.

The multi-faceted artist relocated to Bristol pre-pandemic, immersing herself in the city’s peculiar DIY favours. Her 2020 debut EP followed, offering defying individual songwriting and production idiosyncrasies that pointed to fragments of bass culture, and post-dubstep innovation.

Striking new song ‘Four Faces’ is out now, and it’s a real pearl. bonsi recalls the staunch originality of Tirzah, while crafting her own sound. The bass textures add warmth, while the spartan, skeletal electronics are a thing to behold.

If we’re to throw around comparisons, then bonsi has shades of Jai Paul in her DNA – no bad thing, all told.

“’Four Faces’ was inspired by the disjointed narratives of dreams, and how they translate life back to you in abstract ways,” she explains. “This track was sonically inspired by the mixture of rural and urban spaces – running water, rocks, found sound, spontaneity and space. Blunt industrial sounds, distortion and pace.”

Tune in now.
