Bonneville return with new single ‘Lady Of The Tennessee’.
The songwriting tag-team have long expressed a passion for Southern culture, citing Stax Records and the work done at Muscle Shoals as a formative influence. Incoming album ‘Flying Machine’ – the follow-up to their well-received eponymous debut – was born from a pilgrimage to the South, fully immersing themselves in the musicianship and culture they love.
New single ‘Lady of The Tennessee’ makes this bond explicit – from its title down it aims to blend Southern influences with their own sound, resulting in something potent and gritty, but with heaps of soul.
“This song encompasses our pilgrimage to Muscle Shoals and is the embodiment of our experiences making music there thus far. We really believe Muscle Shoals to be a magical place. Personally, I cannot remember a time in my life, songwriting and creative-wise, that I have been as inspired as I have been since we made Muscle Shoals our musical home,” says guitarist, songwriter, and co-producer Jeff Hayashi.
Bandmate and lead vocalist Wes McGee adds, “Some places just feel like home, even if it’s the first time you step foot in them. Muscle Shoals is that for us.”
