American act Bon Iver are preparing to release a new live album featuring singer Justin Vernon’s high school jazz band.
Bon Iver are one of American music’s most unusual success stories. Led by Justin Vernon, the singer retreated to a remote cabin in Wisconsin to work on their much lauded debut album. Released last year, ‘For Emma, Forever Ago’ was an enormous success.
Receiving numerous critical plaudits the album went on to become a sleeper hit, the sort of thing friends would recommend each other to buy. Since then, Bon Iver have played a number of unusual shows, including one at singer Justin Vernon’s former high school.
The singer played in his school’s jazz band and returned earlier this year for a very special one off concert. Bon Iver performed with Eau Claire Memorial Jazz 1 at the show, which gathered huge press attention.
Captured for posterity a new live album will be released with all funds going to charity. Featuring songs from Bon Iver’s critically acclaimed album ‘For Emma, Forever Ago’ the album also sees Justin Vernon performing a number of jazz classics.
Breezing through laid back standards such as ‘Lady Is A Tramp’ and ‘Bewitched’ the singer seemed completely at home in the surroundings. As a special bonus the album will also include tracks performed by Eau Claire Memorial Jazz 1 including ‘Moon Over Cuba’ and ‘Wind Machine’.
The physical release of the album – titled ‘A Decade With Duke’ – will only be available from Brickhouse Music, Morgan Music, and from the Volume One office in the Eau Claire area. ‘A Decade With Duke’ will be widely available as a digital download.
