Bombay Bicycle Club have confirmed plans for new collaborative EP ‘Fantasies’.
The band returned last year, shaking up their pop-edged indie formula for the soulful experimentation of their album ‘My Big Day’. Rewarded with critical acclaim, Bombay Bicycle Club keep the creativity flowing on a new EP.
Out on February 23rd, ‘Fantasies’ leans on their gift for collaboration, featuring contributions from Lucy Rose, Rae Morris, Liz Lawrence and Matilda Mann.
Released digitally, ‘Fantasies’ will also be available on limited – a mere 2500 copies – 10 inch vinyl. In a neat twist, the EP is printed on eco-mix vinyl – an eco-friendly way of utilising offcuts from other pressings. It is also packaged in an eco-friendly sleeve and shrinkwrap.
The first song ‘Fantasneeze’ boasts guest vocals from Matilda Mann, with Bombay Bicycle Club commenting:
When we decided to hold ‘Fantasneeze’ back for its own release after the album, we kept working and finished off three other songs in short order. We think of this as a Bombay & Friends release because each song has a good friend of the band singing on it (Lucy Rose, Rae Morris, Liz Lawrence, Matilda Mann).
Some are old friends with long-term, close associations to the band (Lucy Rose for instance) while Matilda Mann is a newer collaborator (having contacted Jack to do some co-writing initially a couple years ago). It’s also very much a continuation of ‘My Big Day’ as it was recorded around the same time and mixed by Dave Fridmann.
Tune in now.
