Bobby Womack is set to release his new album ‘The Bravest Man In The Universe’ on June 11th.
A true soul icon, Bobby Womack is responsible for countless timeless songs. Now it seems that the American artist is ready to return, with XL set to release new album ‘The Bravest Man In The Universe’ this summer.
Out on June 11th, ‘The Bravest Man In The Universe’ was co-produced by Damon Albarn and Richard Russell. Sessions took place last year, with Bobby Womack splitting his time between Albarn’s ‘Studio 13’ in West London and New York’s Manhattan Center.
Strangely – for such a potent songwriting talent – ‘The Bravest Man In The Universe’ is Bobby Womack’s first album of original material since 1994’s ‘Resurrection’.
Stripped from the new album, ‘Please Forgive My Heart’ matches Womack’s older, more mature voice with bass led production. Obviously, parallels will be made with Jamie xx’ Gil Scott Heron re-working ‘We’re New Here’ but really, ‘The Bravest Man In The Universe’ looks to be a quite distinct, quite unique entity.
‘Please Forgive My Heart’ is available as a free download from Bobby Womack’s website. Stream the track below.
