Bobby Basil is marking a return with his latest single, ‘I’ll Die First’.
A cutting release from the Dublin-born rapper, the track ventures into the depths of sobriety. Lending his pen to gritty anecdotes and revelations, the artist amplifies his internal monologue over a trippy, hip-hop production. Arriving alongside visuals directed by Megan Robinson and Basil himself, the rhymer is captured through under-exposed, grungey cinematography, commenting on the turbulent struggles of self-acceptance. Casting his mind back to the track’s early beginnings, the riser shares: “I created this track in my mate’s studio drunk off whiskey after six months of being sober and a dedicated Christian.”
Arriving as the title track taken from Basil’s highly anticipated forthcoming album, the rapper pieces together a deeply personal and reflective body of work. Set to drop later in the year, the artist writes his journey through redemption and overcoming, drawing from a large pool of global influences.
A means to start afresh, ‘I’ll Die First’ marks a new chapter for Bobby Basil.
Tune in now.
