Bob Dylan vs The Haters

"Wussies and pussies"

Bob Dylan has branded some of his past critics as being “wussies and pussies”.

Bob Dylan doesn’t really do interviews, so when the American sage emerges from his slumber the world is best advised to sit up and listen. New album ‘Tempest’ is out now on record racks, and to coincide the songwriter agreed to sit down with Rolling Stone.

Answering questions from the magazine, the question of plagiarism was brought out. Asked about this, Bob Dylan replied that people who throw these accusations at him are “wussies and pussies”.

Rolling Stone brought up the allegation that Bob Dylan quoted from the 19th century poet Henry Timrod. Responding, the American artist said: “…as far as Henry Timrod is concerned, have you even heard of him? Who’s been reading him lately? And who’s pushed him to the forefront? Who’s been making you read him?”

Continuing, Dylan compared those critics to the people who labelled him a Judas due to his switch to electric instruments. “These are the same people that tried to pin the name Judas on me. Judas, the most hated name in human history!” he exclaimed.

“If you think you’ve been called a bad name, try to work your way out from under that. Yeah, and for what? For playing an electric guitar? As if that is in some kind of way equitable to betraying our Lord and delivering him up to be crucified. All those evil motherfuckers can rot in hell.”

‘Tempest’ is out now.
