Bob Dylan Cleared For China Shows

One off British date announced

Bob Dylan has been cleared by Chinese authorities to play his first ever shows in the country.

Almost forty years after his first solo show, Bob Dylan remains an international icon. The career resurgence begun ten years ago with ‘Time Out Of Mind’ continues with a brace of new material and sterling live shows.

Drawing on his enormous back catalogue, Dylan’s live shows are an incredible experience. Sure, his voice has changed but the sheer gravitas of his artistry adds something special to the Bob Dylan live show.

Having played virtually every major nation on the planet, Bob Dylan was booked to play several shows in China last year. Part of an ambitious South East Asia tour, the dates were scrapped after government intervention.

With his material still capable of worrying authorities, Bob Dylan was refused entry into China. Promoters are trying again, with Billboard reporting that at the second time of asking the singer will be allowed entry into the country.

China’s Ministry of Culture have decided to approve the tour application, with the dates set to take place between March 30th and April 12th.

Meanwhile, Chinese ticketing website Mypiao is listing several concerts. Bob Dylan is set to play two massive shows at Beijing Railway Station on April 6th and 8th. It is widely thought that the songwriter struck a deal with Chinese authorities, allowing them to vet any possible set list.

Back in the UK, fans are celebrating after Bob Dylan announced his sole British date of 2011. The singer is set to appear at London Feis, an annual celebration of traditional music from Britain and Ireland.

Due to play a headline set, Bob Dylan will touch down on British soil for the only time this year.

Tickets are on sale now.
