BLVMENKIND has merged forces with Tom Wavy on latest single ‘On My Own’, released via Paradise Lost.
A sentimentally charged moment from the Swiss-born producer, the track ruminates over themes of loss and self-understanding across high-tempo rhythms. Inviting a drum ‘n bass production, BLVMENKIND fills his sound with movement, allowing for Wavy’s glacial vocals to take centre-stage. Contrasting its magnetic drums and piano sections over a haunting hook, the two combine for a momentous, versatile listen.
Surrounded by music from a young age, Gabriel Brönnimann first started using his creative process as a form of emotional release. At first experimenting with more classical elements, the artist now shifts his focus towards electronic music. Influenced by the likes of Flume, Jai Paul, Mura Masa, Dr. Dre, BLVMENKIND fuses together club-adjacent tempos with hip-hop, pop and synths, seeing to expand his sound palette across his journey.
Speaking on his latest release, the artist details…
“‘On My Own’ is a song that I created quite early in the album production cycle in 2018. Back then, it only was a rough demo of a piano melody and a drum and bass loop. It stuck with me because the melody is very melancholic and lonesome but still has an optimistic feeling to it, which very well presented the situation I was in at that point of life but still is relatable today.”
