Blur are set to release their triumphant Hyde Park show as a deluxe 3-CD box set.
If it was to Blur’s final show, then their performance at Hyde Park was something to cherish. Damon Albarn was on fiery form, celebrating Team GB’s Olympics success by diving into the crowd with a Union flag.
Ending with an epic rendition of ‘The Universal’ the show left a deep impression on everyone in attendance. Available to buy on iTunes, Blur have now confirmed plans for a deluxe physical edition.
Set to be expanded into a three disc set, the release of ‘ParkLive’ – see what they did there? – seems to focus on their re-union as a whole. The release will contain performances from the warm up shows, which of course included a memorable night at London’s 100 Club courtesy of the Converse Represent project.
Seemingly available from October, the three disc box set will be complimented by a 60 page hardback book covering the latest leg of Blur’s re-union.
Let’s not forget that Blur were paid just £300 for their role in the BT London Live show. “When you divide that between four and add publishing, management and tax, it’s down to about a quid,” Damon Albarn told Absolute Radio. “But that’s not why you agree to do it … I love this city.”
‘Parklive’ will gain a physical release in October.
