Reformed Britpop heroes Blur have named their new limited edition single ‘Fool’s Day’.
Having sold countless records and won multiple awards, the members of Blur have nothing to prove. Damon Albarn and Graham Coxon have enjoyed success out with the group, while the remaining members are experienced politicians and… cheese farmers.
Reforming last summer for a series of enormous live shows, Blur’s re-union was one of the year’s most emotional moments. Stood onstage at Glastonbury listening to one hundred thousand sing his music back to him, Damon Albarn broke down in tears.
Breaking off to focus on their day jobs, the band have now revealed one more surprise for fans. Blur previously announced that they were to release an extremely limited edition single in time for Record Store Day.
Refusing to reveal more, the vinyl only release represents the first material that the band have completed together since ‘Battery In Your Leg’ from the album ‘Think Tank’.
Now Blur have revealed more details about their new single. Titled ‘Fool’s Day’ it will be released on April 17th in a limited edition of 1000. Issuing a statement, Damon Albarn revealed the band’s love of independent music shops.
“We want independent record stores to continue – they’re an important part of our musical culture” the singer explained. “Music is a simple way for Blur to show our support and we hope people like it”.
“This release just shows how big Record Store Day has become and I for one can’t wait to be in the thick of the action come Saturday morning” said Spencer Hickman on behalf of Record Store Day.
Blur are to release ‘Fool’s Day’ on April 17th.
