Damon Albarn is continuing to tease new Blur material, suggesting that the band could record another album.
Blur’s return has brought no end of celebration and confusion from fans. The band are to perform at the closing ceremony of the Olympics, returning to Hyde Park for a no doubt emotional performance.
However the show has been accompanied by some misleading signals. Damon Albarn has previously expressed doubts if the band will ever work together again, yet the songwriter has also admitted that new material remains a possibility.
Now the frontman has argued that not only could Blur record fresh work, but it could take the form of a soundtrack project. Speaking to The Sun, Damon Albarn admitted that the Hyde Park show would be their “last gig in the country this year and probably for a long time”.
He then added: “But that doesn’t mean it’s the end of Blur. If someone wanted us to do an album for a film I’d definitely be interested in something like that. So that’s the offer.”
Meanwhile, Alex James has revealed that Blur regularly meet up to make music together. “There’s never been a period where more than six months have gone by and (we haven’t) stuck our heads in and had a bish-bash… It’s just really, really good fun.”
This one will run and run…
Blur will play the Olympic closing ceremony at Hyde Park on August 17th.
