LA artist Blondshell (Sabrina Teitelbaum) has announced a digital deluxe version of her self-titled album that will be released on Partisan Records, as well as releasing a new single, ‘Street Rat’.
The new single is a mix of grungy verses with a large shoegaze chorus, similar to the likes of Wolf Alice. ‘Street Rat’ digs through many layers of self-reflection, stating that “I don’t feel like myself with out of prop, maybe that’s a part of the problem…”
The breakthrough LA artists explains: “I wrote ‘Street Rat’ the day we finished tracking the album, so it really feels like part of the same era to me. If I had written it one day earlier it would’ve been on the album. It’s a song about all of the mental gymnastics behind wanting to give up a bad habit, but not being able to despite knowing you should.”
The single is paired with a music video directed by Muriel Knudsen. The video has a nostalgic feel containing a collage of different moments from her most recent tour. The release of this single feels like an homage to the fans she has accumulated, making also a perfect way to announce new show dates in Bristol, Iceland Airwaves, and London’s Layette – the latter on November 1st.
The deluxe edition of Blondshell’s debut album lands on October 6th.
