Blondshell has shared her cover of Cranberries’ ‘Disappointment’.
The songwriter’s debut album lands in April, a bold self-titled effort. Ahead of this, she’s decided to share a surprise with fans – a neat cover.
Diving into an early influence, Blondshell has re-cast Cranberries’ alt-rock hymn ‘Disappointment’ in her own guise. The spartan arrangement seems to amplify the intensity of the vocal, with the American artist tapping into the core emotion of the song.
Online now, Blondshell describes the song as feeling like “heartbreak disguised as apathy…”
She says:
“I wanted to sing a song off of ‘No Need To Argue’, which is one of my favourite albums ever. Dolores’ voice carries so much emotion throughout the entire album, not just on the big hits like ‘Zombie’, but on the more understated songs as well.
“‘Disappointment’ hits me so hard because it feels like heartbreak disguised as apathy. I wanted to sing the song how I heard it, with the intensity of the pain behind those airy, relaxed vocals and drums.”
Tune in now.
Blondshell will release her self-titled debut album on April 7th.
